помогите с java

в с++ чтобы  ввести переменные надо  пользоватся cin  а в java ак сделать пробовал сделать system.in.read() но вызывает ощибку::"gev.java": cannot resolve symbol: method read (int)in class java.io.InputStream at line 4, column 15 вот что пишет
